Molutrex 5% Potassium Hydroxide solution

PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION

Potassium Hydroxide solution used in Molutrex is highly caustic and will burn normal skin if left in place.

TAKE CARE to apply Molutrex ONLY to the surface of the blister and NOT on the skin surrounding it. If you do get Molutrex onto normal skin then wash it off immediately with plenty of cool water.

DO NOT USE Molutrex on:

• Skin around the eyes
• Mucous membranes (such as genitals).
• On areas of inflamed skin –such as areas of active eczema or areas which have been scratched enough to open a wound
• On children under the age of 2 years
• On patients with a known immune deficiency such as HIV infected patients

Molutrex should also be kept away from clothing and other textiles. It should be allowed to dry naturally before clothing is worn and if it is spilled the liquid should be lifted off the surface with an absorbent paper towel and the surface washed immediately with plenty of cold water.

Please note that Molutrex is for external use only and should not be drunk. If accidentally swallowed the mouth should be rinsed immediately with cold water and then the patient should drink plenty of cold water. Call the doctor immediately.
